Papaver naudicaule

Poppies provide very welcome beauty in the garden as Winter finishes and nature wakes up. This cool season crop will flower in early Spring, with similar timing to Ranunculus, Anemones, Tulips & Peonies. Colibri Poppies are a specialty Italian variety with HUGE blooms in the most stunning colour palette. Often grown as a hardy annual, these amazing plants are actually a hardy perennial and can be left in the garden to rebloom.

This new collection from Biancheri in Italy includes specialty commercial varieties, specifically bred for cut-flower production and not usually available to the public.

These 'plugs' are small seedlings that I source in bulk from Ball Australia, who also supply my seed for these varieties, for my flower production purposes. They save me the time in sowing seeds and grow vigorously as soon as planted.

I have included some links to international seed suppliers who stock these gorgeous blooms so you can better visualise the beauty you will be ordering. As soon as these plants are flowering on my farm I will add my own images here.

The plants you receive are young seedlings with strong healthy root systems, shipped in a recyclable/compostable pot that can be planted straight into the ground with your plant, reducing transplant shock.

These seedlings will flower and develop corms in their first year, strengthening each growing season. Corms can be lifted and stored when plants have died down to ensure viability for next season - they do not like to be wet when dormant, so it is best to lift yours corms if you will be watering your planting area once the corms are dormant.
